Markus is a writer, consultant, and entrepreneur living in Berlin, Germany. He is Co-Founder and Managing Partner at the communication and transformation agency Rethink and the Co-Founder of the future of work consultancy Neuwork.

He studied philosophy, political science, and journalism and spent many years in and around the industry: writing for Brand Eins and many leading German publications, serving as Monocle’s Berlin Correspondent, and holding editorial positions at SZ-Magazin, Welt am Sonntag, and Vanity Fair. While he usually sticks to being a non-fiction futurist with books like Meconomy (2001), Rethinking Luxury (2014), the business book bestseller Smart Work (2008), and Digital Fatigue (2017), Markus also wrote a speculative short fiction piece for The Guardian called “Eternal Bliss” in 2012. A regular speaker and workshop host, Markus is also a member of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, a judge for the Lovie Awards, and a jury member for Forework and the Best of Content Marketing Award.
